Georgetown Steamplant

If you have not had a chance check out the Georgetown Steamplant, you should. The site is open for tours, which are free and open to the public, are held on the 2nd Saturday of each month. The Puget Sound Garden Railroad Society regularly meets on the grounds and runs a miniature railroad.

6605 13th Avenue South
Seattle, WA 98108

Interestingly Google Maps will not place this address correctly. Use the “A” marker as reference, zoom in, then use “Satellite” and you will be able to find it on the map.

To get there from Seattle:

From Airport Way South take 12th Ave S or 13th Ave S to S Bailey Street then drive in a southerly direction on S Ellis Avenue.

Going south on Ellis Avenue make a left onto S Warsaw Street. There is a closed gate in front of you, so go into the parking lot on your left. Follow the parking lot east to the back end where you will find a driveway back to the Steamplant. Park on the East side and either enter through the door on the east wall or there should be barn double doors open on the South end of the building. The south end of the building is storage for a number of different vehicles, the actual machinery of the Steamplant is on the north end of the building, so walk past these to get to the machinery.

They run classes for Steam Licenses on a regular basis at the Steamplant, but I am unable to find the official site for this.
